Movie 5 could feature 3-D scenes
Movie 5 could feature 3-D scenes Cinemark, America's third biggest theater chain, has announced that it plans to use "Real D" technology in 150 theaters by the end of 2007, thus attracting more audiences. Real D enables a single digital projector to beam images that seem to move toward or away from viewers wearing special glasses. While we already know that Order of the Phoenix will be played in IMAX theaters, the company has apparently discussed with OOTP producers the idea of including some 3-D scenes in the movie for some non-IMAX theaters.

Regarding the increased interest in 3-D, Research Associates analyst Marla Backer says: "Nobody has forgotten last year's box office slump." If sales fell because consumers preferred to watch DVDs in their living rooms, then "theaters need a more compelling reason for people to get out of their homes."

Robbie Coltrane finished with OOTP filming
An article published  in JAM! Television has announced Robbie Coltrane's involvement with a new BBC America film titled Cracker: A New Terror. He says it took "10 seconds" to get back into the role as "Fitz," who he played in the last Cracker film ten years ago.
Of more interest to Potter fans, the article also reports that Robbie has "just wrapped his scenes on the fifth Harry Potter movie." All filming for Order of the Phoenix is scheduled to be completed by late fall.

British Lit Expert:
James Krasner, professor of English and British Victorian literature at the University of New Hampshire, has spoken out on the recent media frenzy over two characters dying in the seventh book...and why it won't be Harry who meets his death:

"Whenever an author's books become very popular in his or her lifetime, as is the case with Rowling, a tug of war starts between the author and the fans about who the characters really belong to. Rowling, like Conan Doyle (creator of Sherlock Holmes), is trying to assert her control. She's reminding us that Harry is her character, not ours; she can kill him if she wants to. Doyle actually did kill off Sherlock Holmes, but Rowling won't go that far because she cares about Harry. Conan Doyle was really sick of Holmes," Krasner says.

Harry Potter Anagrams

Some words or phrases from the Harry Potter series are (or are at least thought to be) anagrams of other things that hide clues as to what is going to happen. Read on to find out more.

Note: Many of these anagrams are probably only coincidental, but they are fun to spot all the same! Yes, we're probably guilty of overanalyzing, but we're making sure we keep all possibilities open.

  • Harry James Potter is an anagram of Major Threat Persy

Yes, Percy is really spelled with a 'c', but this could be much like the "Severus Snape/Pursues Evans" anagram. Interesting, interesting...

  • Ollivanders is an anagram of Ronald Lives or Ronald's Evil

This could hold several meanings. I think it's safe to assume that Ronald is Ron, and so it may mean that Ron will not die throughout the seven books. However, it may also have been a clue for Book 5. When Mrs. Weasley tackled the boggart and Ron is sprawled across the carpet, some of us thought he was actually dead. This anagram may have told us three books before that he wasn't really dead in this instance. It may also tell us that if Ron does appear to die in future books, it will not be true. As for the second possibility, I think it's just a coincidence.

  • Ollivander is an anagram of An Evil Lord

This could mean that Mr Ollivander is not someone to be trusted or is on Voldemort's side.

  • Severus Snape is an anagram of Perseus Evans or Persues Evans or Save Pureness

The first anagram, Perseus Evans, could mean several things. Perseus was a character in myth that, to put it briefly, went on a courageous quest and ended up killing the God Poseidon to save the princess (Lily?). Also, the character Medusa is linked with the legend of Perseus. Anyone who looked directly at Medusa was turned to stone. Can you say "Basilisk"? Perseus also married Andromeda, who, as we learn in Book 5, is the name of Tonks' mother. Naturally, the Evans part could mean either he is related to Lily or had a relationship with her.

The second anagram, Persues Evans, could mean that Snape went after Lily, either to kill her or to have a relationship with her. The word is spelled "pursues" but this could be a deliberate misspelling.

As for the third anagram, Save Pureness ... enough said.

  • Tom Marvolo Riddle is an anagram of I am Lord Voldemort

Obviously, this one has already been shown to be important, but it just goes to show that a lot of information can be held in anagrams.

  • Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is an anagram of Treachery rests on Transported Hero

I'm almost positive this is coincidental, but it's interesting anyway! -Thanks, Tyler

  • Dolores Jane Umbridge is an anagram of Dumbledore goes in jar

Dumbledore means bumblebee in Old English. Rita Skeeter was a beetle and ended up in a jar. Perhaps there is a link between Dumbledore and Rita?

  • Remus Lupin is an anagram of Primus Lune

Primus comes from the Latin word meaning first, or beginning, or perhaps full. Lune is from the French for moon. Lupin turns into a werewolf when there is a full moon. Coincidence? -Thanks, Jenny

  • Hogwarts is an anagram of Ghost War

A battle between the ghosts of Hogwarts a long time ago? Either that, or perhaps it is meant figuratively, where the war will not be seen by the teachers or students. -Thanks, Alex

  • Drooble's Best Blowing Gum is an anagram of Gold bribe below St. Mungos

Very interesting... In Book 5, Neville's mum gives him a gum wrapper. Is she passing on an important message?

  • Peter Pettigrew is an anagram of Tip: Pet We Regret

This really speaks for itself - the Weasleys probably regret keeping Scabbers as a pet for so long and not knowing or realising he was an Animagus, even with his abnormally long life span. -Thanks, Megan

  • Dean Thomas is an anagram of Death Moans

This doesn't seem like a good sign for Dean. Perhaps the word "moans" means that if he does die, he will come back as a ghost to haunt. Moaning or wailing is usually associated with unsettled spirits, though perhaps it could be hinting more towards him being used as an Inferius after death. -Thanks, Megan

  • Seamus Finnigan is an anagram of Is Unsafe Naming

Maybe this is hinting that Seamus will be captured by Voldemort's followers and will have to give them names or locations of specific people who are threats. If he is 'unsafe' in doing this, though, he probably won't give anything away. -Thanks, Megan

  • Bill Weasley is an anagram of Will Ably See

Though it's unlikely Bill has any Seer blood in him, perhaps he will somehow predict what will happen in the battle between good and evil.-Thanks, Megan

  • Arthur Weasley is an anagram of We Salute Harry

We know that Mr Weasley will fully support Harry on his quest, so the anagram could mean this. However, in military circles, a salute can be given when honoring the dead. This sounds ominous for Harry if Arthur is saluting him. -Thanks, Megan

jkrowling.com secrets!!

New secrets from March 9th, 2006 site update:

Order Outline: Go to the "Extra Stuff" Section. Take the pen off the string and drag it over to the blank sheet with the yellow thumbtack. Draw a lightening bolt in the middle of the sheet. Try and keep the pen as steady and centered as possible. It will reveal one of the revisions Jo made when planning Order of the Phoenix. It includes some Chapter Names that were changed as well a few ideas that didn't make the final draft.

Magical Creatures: Go to the Links area and click on the thin red book on the second shelf, Ancient Runes Made Easy. It reveals some information on several different magical creatures.

Teachers and Hippogriffs: First, go into the "Extra Stuff" Section. Turn the radio off, then on and wait a few seconds. Listen to the announcement telling you to put six drops of red potion followed by three of the green potion on a plant. Now, leave and click on the Eraser Portkey on the desktop. It brings you to the mysterious door. Now, follow the instructions with the potion on the plant. Now you have another scrapbook piece, revealing (around the time of Prisoner of Azkaban) genders of teachers and some attempts for hippogriff names.

Original Synopsis: Go to the Rubbish Bin and move the mug four times in a clockwise circle. When you do that, stop: it forms a circle inside. Now leave and go to the Extra Stuff section, click on the card that says "Circle" with a circle on it. Now you have an original synopsis of Philosopher's Stone.

The Cell Phone 4: Go to the main page. On the phone, dial "31071965" (which happens to be Jo's birthday, 7/31/65). Now you have an early (around 1994) draft of Philosopher's Stone.

Draco's surname: Go to the Fan Sites page. To the right, click on the small red box five times. It will open. Click the question mark bubble to get the same clue as the phone-dialing one. An early (around 1994) draft of Philosopher's Stone and information that Draco's surname used to be "Spungen."

The Cell Phone: Besides unlocking a hidden surprise, if you stay on the front page long enough, the cell phone in the top left corner will ring. Pick it up to see if someone is on the other end!

The Cell Phone 2: Dial 733837 (P-E-E-V-E-S) and you'll unlock another item for your scrapbook! (Thanks to Lindsay for this secret)

The Cell Phone 3: Dial 62442 (M-A-G-I-C, as mentioned in OoP) and you'll unlock something for your scrapbook.

The Eraser: In the Extra Stuff section, grab the eraser on the bottom of the bulletin board and move it around the blank paper. Then, double click the small green leaves above the image, and they'll disappear. Next on the main page, wait for the spider to crawl on the screen and double click that. In the links section double click the potion bottle on the shelf. Finally in the Fansites section click the feather. Clicking on all of them will add something to the scrapbook! (Thanks to everyone that sent this in!)

The Key: On the Links page, click the book with the question mark on its spine and move it to the left, then grab the key and put it on the chest on the right side of the screen.

The Leaking Pen: Go to the Rubbish Bin area, then double click on the pen to the left of the trash bin. This will crack it in half and make the pen leak ink that will reveal the secret to getting another item added to your scrapbook. The first item you need to click on are the eggs, located on the right side of the Rubbish Bin page. Next, go to the Extra Stuff section and click on the hair seen right under the blank pad of paper. Then finally, head over to the Fan Sites page. Click and drag the empty medal box to the right or left and it will reveal marbles. Click on those and you'll have a new item added to your scrapbook! (Thanks to all of those who were quick on figuring it out!)

The Light Switch: Click it, and the light turns off. Click it again, light turns back on again. Like magic! We're not sure why she has a light switch on her desk... or tabloids, for that matter. Tsk tsk, Jo!

The 2nd Light Switch: Another light switch can be found in the "Mysterious Door" area, which will turn on the light outside of that oh-so-mysterious room. While it doesn't reveal any secrets at the present time, maybe one day it will!

The Marble: On the main page, there is a marble located right in between the FAQ portkey and the Welcome notepad. Browse around the site for a moment, then go back to the main page and wait a few minutes until a Mysterious Wind blows through. Click the marble when it starts to swirl and you'll unlock another goodie in your notebook! (Thanks to everyone who sent this in!)

The Medals: Go to Fan Sites, there are two different medals with a question mark. Pick up and place them in the empty holders next to the Fan Site Trophy.

The Radio: In the Extra Stuff section, the radio can be turned on or off to listen to some music while browing the area.
